A New Probiotic And Weight loss
For years, we have known the drastic effects that probiotics play on the health of our bodies. More and more research is coming out connecting our gut bugs to different conditions like obesity, neurological conditions and even cardiovascular issues. There has been a new probiotic strain found to not only improve weight loss but help with the immune system and leaky gut!
The study cited below used Bifidobacterium lactis B-420 and monitored body fat, waste circumference, LPS (a gut bacterial endotoxin), and HS-CRP (an inflammatory marker) over a 6-month period. There were significant reductions in weight and waste circumference!
The BL-420 strain also was shown to lower the ability of bad bacteria to adhere to the lining of the intestinal track. These bacteria can produce a chemical called LPS. LPS is blamed for inflammation, insulin resistance, obesity, and even some hormonal conditions. More often, LPS is considered a marker for leaky gut. Leaky gut is where the gut lining is inflamed and allows for chemicals and undigested food to enter the bloodstream. This is highly associated with autoimmune diseases. BL-420 was even able to bring LPS levels to normal in diabetic patients!
BL-420 as well helped improve glucose tolerance in diabetic mice as well as improved liver inflammation markers. With diabetes and fatty liver on the rise, BL-420 maybe of significant use in those patients as well!
If you’re having trouble losing weight, have an autoimmune disease, are prediabetic or diabetic, it might be worth trying BL-420 for 6 months! Metagenics does a wonderful job with their probiotics and are what I highly recommend. They are now carrying a BL-420 strain probiotic designed for weight control! Check it out HERE
